Econimic Development

Micro-Finance Programme (MFP) updated on June 2018

Duration: 01.01.1994 to ongoing.

Objective: Change livelihoods of the target beneficiaries through economic empowerment.

Components: There are seven components under MFP, which are- I. JAGORON II. AGROSOR III. BUNIAD IV. SUFOLON V. KGF (SUFOLON) VI. SAHOS and VII. LIFT (Land Lease for Ultra Poor). Each component has its different loan ceiling with own characteristics.

Major activities: Baseline survey, facilitate grass-root organization (somittee) building, awareness raising, training, savings building, credit operation and marketing assistance.

Operational units: Zonal Office- 2, Area Office- 10 and Branch Office- 50.

Members: 90,251 now enrolled in 5,278 somittee (groups), of which about 98% are female. The principal loan outstanding is Tk.200.26 crore with 73,738 borrowers (82% coverage) and the savings accomulation is Tk.59.33 crore .

Major Ratio Analysis: OTR 99.52%, CRR 99.91%, Liquidity Ratio 9.34%, Portfolio at Risk 0.79%, Delinquent Ratio 0.65%, Debt:Equity 1.44:1

Partnership with PKSF: Since 10.08.2005.

MRA Registration: NDP obtain MRA registration on 29.04.2008, vide # 0122900332-00222.

Accountability: ‘MFP Citizen Charter’ containing relevant information on MFP services has posted in different public places including office premises for public visibility.

Source of fund: Palli Karmo Sahayak Foundation (PKSF) is the main donor. Besides, the group savings, organization’s own fund, bank loan (south east bank limited, brac bank limited, standard bank limited, prime bank limited, IDLC) are also utilized in credit operation.

 

Housing Support Programme

 

Low Income Community Housing Support Programme(LICHSP)

Duration: 15.02.2017 to ongoing

Objective: To improve living conditions in selected low income and informal settlement in designated municipalities in Bangladdesh.

Loan Purpose: House improvement/renovation, House extension, House construction.

Loan Features: Loan Tenure maximum 5 years, loan size maximum 4 lac, annual service charge 12% (decline balance method), installment payable by monthly, number of installment maximum 60, installment type EMI(prin+SC).

Implementation process: This is a pilot project of Sirajganj Pourosova. Implementing with the assistance of PKSF.

Achievements till June 2018: Tk. 2.37 crore disbursed among 83 borrowers and ensured 83 houses renovation, extension and construction.

Source of fund: World Bank throgh PKSF.

 

Housing Loan Support (GoB)

Duration: 10.05.2003 to ongoing

Objective: To improve living conditions in seleceted houseless people in urban and rural areas.

 

Loan Purpose: House construction.

Loan Features: Loan Tenure maximum 3 years, loan size maximum 70 thousands, annual service charge 5.5% (decline balance method), installment payable by monthly, number of installment maximum 36, installment type EMI (prin+SC).

 

Implementation Area: 2 branches of MFP (fulkocha and bagbati of Sirajganj Sadar).

Achievements till June 2018: Tk. 17.50 Lac disbursed among 25 borrowers and ensured 25 houses making.

Source of fund: Grihayan Tohobil (The Republic of Bangladesh Government).

 

Agriculture,  Livestock and Fisheries Unit:

Duration: 01.07.2013 to ongoing

Objective: To promote food security thus reduces poverty adopting innovative technologies in agriculture and livestock production.  

Major activities: Identifying local needs and potentialities, skill training, demonstration on new technologies in agriculture and livestock, door step technical follow-up and marketing supports.

Implementation process: Interested farmers are organized on cluster basis and developing their capacities, encouraged taking promotional activities on agriculture and livestock farming thus making it cost-effective through 5 micro finance branches of 2 upazillas under Sirajganj district.

Total Budget: Tk.1.6 crore

Source of fund: Palli Karmo Sahayak Foundation (PKSF).

 

Kuwait Goodwill Fund (KGF)

Duration: 01.07.2014 to ongoing

Objective: To enhance food production adopting innovative technologies in agriculture and livestock production thus change livelihoods.  

Major activities: Identifying farmer’s needs & potentialities, skill training, demonstration on appropriate/modern/new technologies in agriculture (AWD method, pheromone trap, vermin-compost, etc.) and livestock farming (goat rearing in slatted house), micro-finance supports in IGA, door step technical follow-up and marketing supports.

Implementation process: Interested farmers are organized on cluster basis and developing their capacities and skills, encouraged them taking appropriate technologies on agriculture and livestock farming thus earn more profit through 18 microfinance branches of 6 upazillas under Sirajganj district.

 Technical Assistance Budget: 29.18 lac
