Combatting Early Marriage in Bangladesh (CEMB)  

Duration: January 01, 2021, to June 30, 2023

Objectives: i. To protect adolescents, especially girls, from harmful gender norms and practices, including CEFM; ii. To increase access to economic empowerment opportunities; iii. Improved community acceptance of norms that value the girl child and actions that support girls and boys to delay marriage.

Major activities : 1. Members of District level CMPCs in remaining Divisions across the country trained on CMRA 2017, GE, child rights and protection, roles and responsibilities as per relevant laws and policies and its replication; 2. District level NPA implementation plans to combat CEFM are strengthened across all districts in-country.   

Implementation process : The project will implement through the increased participation agency of adolescents, especially girls to protect themselves from harmful gender norms and practices, including CEFM, and to access economic empowerment opportunities; increase of community acceptance of norms that value the girl child and actions that support girls and boys to delay marriage and increase responsiveness of duty bearers at national, District, and sub-District levels to prevent and respond to child rights violations, particularly CEFM, among vulnerable girls.
