Monsoon Flood Readiness Initiative-2024

Duration: June 25, 2024 to August 08, 2024

Objectives: To provide emergency support and disaster risk reduction in vulnerable areas of Char Girish and Natuarpara within Kazipur Upazila, Sirajganj District by ensuring access to safe water, sanitation, and climate-resilient infrastructure, while engaging the community in cash-for-work initiatives and organizing vaccination and awareness campaigns in collaboration with government agencies.

Major activities: The project’s major activities include the repair and maintenance of 35 community tube-wells and 35 latrines, alongside disaster risk reduction (DRR) efforts such as road repairs, flood shelter repairs, and cattle shelter rising. Additionally, the project will conduct 10 vaccination campaigns to immunize approximately 2,500 cattle and organize 10 awareness meetings focused on preventing agricultural loss. A community satisfaction survey will also be conducted to gather feedback.

Implementation process: The implementation process involves close collaboration with government agencies, including the Department of Livestock and the Department of Agriculture Extension. The project will engage 200 community members in cash-for-work initiatives and utilize IEC materials to effectively support the awareness meetings. The findings from the satisfaction survey will be documented in a comprehensive report.
