Investment Component of VGD (ICVGD)-II

Objectives: The objective of the programme is to improve the socio-economic status of poor women from disadvantaged households in rural Bangladesh by providing extensive support to poor women in the form of a one-time cash grant, capacity building, and business operation support, which will help them to establish their livelihood for a sustainable source of income and thus graduate from extreme poverty while ensuring food and nutrition security for their households.
Major Activities: Formation of 548 beneficiary groups; provide 35 days of training on the 6 subject-based modules to the 13,700 participants; support 13,700 beneficiaries to develop a business plan; support 13,700 selected beneficiaries to receive cash grant; ensure proper use of the cash grant by the 13,700 selected beneficiaries; support 13,700 selected beneficiaries to purchase productive assets; support 13,700 selected beneficiaries to maintain accounts of income and expenditure and other record-keeping for the IGA and develop their capacity to do so independently; and support 13,700 selected beneficiaries to make savings and reinvest the saved amount in IGAs for diversification of their source of income.
