Anticipatory Action to Vulnerable Households in Flood prone areas of north-western Bangladesh

Duration: May 25, 2022 to October 15, 2022

Objectives : The objective of the project is to promote a more effective, timely and dignified humanitarian response for beneficiaries in anticipation of severe monsoon flooding to enhance the resilience of the flood-affected households in the riverine community of Sirajganj district.

Specific objectives are; (i) To select 30,000 vulnerable HHs from the 48 Unions of 6 Upazillas of Sirajganj district after proper verification and validation; (ii) To orient the DMCs about the Anticipatory Actions (AAs) of WFP and the Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief of the Government of Bangladesh; and (iii) To ensure dissemination of Flood Early Warning last-mile message at the community level.

Major Activities : a. Readiness activities (baseline assessment, community level mass awareness, creating multi-stakeholders level sensitization, HHs data verification, Anticipatory Actions of Flood and Last Mile Early Warning Message Dissemination); and b. After activation of flood triggers activities (liaise and coordination, verify the selected HHs and ensure the registration and activation of bKash account of the selected beneficiary households).
