Promoting Green Growth in Loom Sub-Sector by Resource Efficient Practices under Sustainable Microenterprise and Resilient Transformation (SMART)-Loom

Duration: 01 October 2024 30 June 2028

Objectives: The main objective of the sub-project is to increase resource-efficient and resilient green growth of microenterprises (MEs). The specific objectives of the sub-project are:

·         Increase awareness among the entrepreneurs on climate change, natural disaster and environmental risk factors.

·         Promoting RECP among MEs to enhance resource efficiency, reduce risk of climate change and increase adaptation of environment friendly sustainable practices.

·         Assist MEs of the cluster for sustainable and green growth through capacity building for producing diversified and eco-friendly products, technology and value chain development.

·         Enhance capacity and technical skills of the MEs and enhance services of non-revenue and revenue generating common services for promoting eco-friendly value chain and expand markets of eco-friendly products.

·         Ensure effective management of the MEs through providing suitable- loan support and digitalization of financial management to 1,500 MEs.

Major Activities:  The activities of the project have been distributed under two components. Component-01: Enabling capacity and systems for green growth of MEs. Component-02. Providing Access to Finance for MEs to enable green growth

Under the component 01 the major activities are:

  1. Training on: Climate vulnerability and climate resilient RECP, OHS and Decent work environment (including waste management and Fire safety), promotion of natural dying process, adopting modern technology (Rapier loom, Jacquard), improved fabric designing for designers. Inception workshop, Closing & lesson learned workshop, Exposure visit etc.
  2. Demonstration of Resource Efficient Model MEs, Technical Assistance for RECP adoption, Technology Transfer, Installation of Mini ETP, Installation of Mini ETP with Improved Burner, Installation of Mini ETP with Improved Burner and Sand Filtration, Waste Recycling (Waste to Craft) etc.
  3. Digitalization of Environmental and Financial Management System, IoT and Traceability (For instance, Air Quality Tracking) etc.
