Provision of WASH, Child Protection and Nutrition supports to the flood affetced people amidst the COVID/19 pandemic in Sirajganj district in 2020 Project

 

Duration: September 16, 2020 to January 15, 2021

 

Objective : (a) to provision of WASH facilities, access to safe drinking water, emergency and disabled & elderly friendly latrines, hand washing facilities, bathing cubicles and key hygiene messages for flood affected people specially children, women and adolescent girls in sirajganj district; (b) to ensure care support and case management system for protection needs for the flood affected most vulnerable children including children with disabilities (CWD); (c) to reduce mortality and morbidity among under 5 aged children with severe acute malnutrition; and (d) to aware 800 pregnant and lactating women (PLW) on infant and young child feding (IYCF).

 

Major activities : Construction tube well and water points, latrines, bathing cubicles Renovation/ Rehabilitation with disinfection tube wells and water points, latrines, WASH Block; establishment of handwashing stations in light with COVID & MHM, School Hygine Sessions focusing on handwashing in line with COVID and MHM,  Hygiene promotion awareness, Distribution and installation of handwashing facilities in focus on personal hygine and COVID; Children Case Management; establish Child Protection Service Hubs; provide need based care supports; Development of Community Based Child Protection Committee-CBCPC; and Development of Community Youth Volunteers. Severe Acute Malnutrition-SAM screening Camp; IYCF counseling for pregnant and lactating mothers children aged 0-23 months; Training/ Workshop/ Orientation/ Meeting etc.

 

Implementation process : The project will implement through community self help group, case management, community volunteerism and direct support services approaces

 

Matching of SDG : SDG-06 : Ensure availability and sustainable management of Water and Sanitation for all; SDG-13: Take urgent action to combat climate change and its impact.
